There's More to Ayia Napa Than Parties

Think of Ayia Napa and most people think of all night parties and hordes of drunken youths, and in some cases, this can be true. However Ayia Napa has some of the best beaches in Cyprus, excellent family facilities and one of the best water parks on the island, making cheap Ayia Napa holidays perfect for the whole family.

You will fly into Larnaca airport and transfers to Ayia Napa should take around an hour, accommodation here is a selection of traditional guest houses, self catering apartments and wonderful all inclusive resorts.

The town of Ayia Napa itself has beautiful cobbled streets lined with aged buildings exuding a charm that captivates the hearts of most people who come here. It's easy to be reminded of the towns more humble and perhaps peaceful beginnings with a visit to the wonderful 16th century Venetian Monastery, 600 year old fig tree and beautiful marble fountain right at the very heart of the town.

All of the beaches on holidays in Ayia Napa have been awarded the EU Blue Flag for cleanliness and facilities which are just one of the reasons people have been returning to the resort for many years.

Although a lot of people choose cheap Ayia Napa holidays for the lively nightlife, it is very easy to avoid it if you want to. In 1995 Nick Power, a DJ from London's Kiss FM radio station opened up a club called Kool Club. House music was introduced to the Ayia Napa party scene and the resort would never look back. The other clubs instantly followed suit and hired top DJ's to compete with the Kool Club and the rest, as they say, is history.

Water sports are a popular activity along this stretch of coastline with windsurfing, fly fishing, banana boats and water skiing favourite ways to wile away a few hours.

Families will be impressed with the number of activities along the beach for children with mini golf, go-carting, bowling and some beautiful parks to wile away a few hours. There are activities to keep the whole family amused at nearby Water World where you'll find flumes and slides for all ages.

So when you're looking for your family holidays this year, don't just dismiss Ayia Napa because you think it's too loud. Look beyond the neon lights and music to the stunning beaches, fantastic family facilities and fascinating history. Cheap Ayia Napa holidays can usually be found early and late season in perhaps May and October when the weather is beginning to cool and the resort is a little bit quieter.
