I’d spotted Spicy Corner on trips to the shops in Forster Square. Its address is ‘Valley Point’, which means it overlooks the roundabout at the junction of Valley Road with St Blaise Way, the road to the railway station.
Geography out of the way, to the place itself. The interior’s very smart indeed, modern decor and ten or so tables nicely set for eating in. The staff in their matching uniforms made a good impression too.
Choosing from the noon-to-7pm menu, I went for the bottom-of-the-bill murgh (chicken) masala with plain rice, at £2.90. More financially-upholstered eaters could opt to pay £1 more for a wider range of curries at £4.90 for two courses or £5.90 for three.
Mine had bite-sized pieces of tender chicken in a lot of sauce with a sprinkling of coriander, nicely spicy, but a bit of an ‘everyman’ curry with nothing outstanding about its flavours. But I’ve got to say, there was lots of it!
