A project supported by Screen Yorkshire is a new TV adaptation of Bingley writer John Braine’s 1957 novel Room at the Top, which is on BBC4 next week.
Starring Maxine Peake and Matthew McNulty, the drama was shot in the region late last year, with a civic ball scene filmed at City Hall, Bradford.
Room at the Top follows ruthlessly ambitious Joe Lampton’s efforts to shake off his working-class roots, leading him to doomed affairs with both the daughter of a wealthy businessman and an unhappily married older woman.
It is on BBC4 on April 7 and 14 at 9pm.
