A BRADFORD recruitment firm is to star in a new four-part Channel 4 documentary which airs on Wednesday night.

The Job Centre focuses on staff at Candelisa People, based in North Parade, and its managing director, Jane Vincent.

"They filmed for six months solidly," said Miss Vincent.

"We got a phone call out of the blue after one of our clients saw something on Facebook about a search for a quirky agency to take part in documentary for Channel 4.

"And for six months worth of filming we've got four one-hour shows.

"You get to see what happens, warts and all."

The first of the four episodes will be shown on Channel 4 at 10pm on Wedneday.

A Channel 4 spokesman said: "This new series follows larger-than-life boss Jane Vincent, who owns one of the liveliest recruitment agencies in Bradford, Candelisa People.

"Along with her straight-talking team, she is tasked with finding jobs for the extraordinary characters who walk through the agency's doors, as they work to get Yorkshire employed."

In the first episode the team deals with one of its largest clients which needs 60 workers within three hours, while Miss Vincent takes on the role of housekeeper in an effort to win a contract with The Marriott hotel.

Miss Vincent, who was one of the founders of the Positive Bradford organisation, said: "We hope it will be great for Bradford, as there will be some of our amazing clients that are shown and I think it shows the city in a positive light.

"I've always said somebody should one should do a television programme about the recruitment industry.

"We are dealing with the most unreliable of commodities and you get to see what really goes on and how many times we are let down. But you also get so see how we work really hard and go the extra mile for our clients."

She described how the series had gone through two working titles, and that it was changed to The Job Centre at the last minute - a name she feels does not quite fit the bill.

It had been called The Recruitment Agency and then Employing Yorkshire.

She said: "I've seen the first three episodes. And there were a few moments of vanity while watching it - such as, 'why didn't I brush my hair that day?'

"But overall I think it's funny and warm and will hopefully make people smile."
