DYNAMO returns to TV screens tonight with the fourth run of his Magician Impossible series, with the Bradford illusionist confirming that the current shows will be his last.

The new series shows the now world-famous performer travel the globe from the USA to India and Europe, before returning to the north of England and his Bradford roots.

The magician filmed tricks in his home city in City Park and the former Odeon cinema building in June, with those scenes set to feature in the fourth and last programme in the series, due to be shown on September 25.

Coldplay and One Direction, featuring Bradford-born Zayn Malik, also feature in the new shows, the first of which premieres on UKTV channel Watch at 9pm tonight.

Dynamo, real name Steven Frayne, said the time was now to leave the hit series, which has been seen by more than 30 million viewers in the UK and 250 million worldwide.

"It is the final series of Magician Impossible," he said. "It feels right."

"There have been so many amazing TV shows that I think could have finished a bit earlier and kept the mystique.

"As much as I’d love to keep making more episodes and keep it going on forever, I want to leave people wanting more."

The Magician Impossible series has received critical acclaim since it first aired in 2011, becoming the first digital show to win Best Entertainment Programme two years running at the Broadcast Awards.

It also won TV Show of The Year at the Virgin Media Awards and Best Multichannel Programme at the Broadcasting Press Guild Awards in 2013, and has previously been nominated for BAFTAs and a National Television Award.

Richard Watsham, director of commissioning at UKTV, said: "We created a home for Dynamo on Watch since he first burst into living rooms with his breakthrough hit and we are immensely proud of this series, which has now been seen in 193 territories around the globe.

"We’ve always worked collaboratively with Dynamo and are talking about what we can do next, now that Magician Impossible is very nearly complete."

Dan Albion, executive producer at Inner Circle Films, also suggested that Dynamo's TV exit may only be a temporary absence.

"I think we’ve absolutely pushed and changed the magic landscape over the past three series, and the fourth is our best yet," he said.

"We’ve managed to do some incredible things in that time period, but you can’t keep doing the same thing forever.

"Watch has been supportive throughout and we’ll continue to talk to the team about what might come next for Dynamo."

The star, who has 2.2million Twitter followers and 4.1million Facebook fans, was criticised by some commentators on social media last week after wires were revealed in photos of him 'hovering' more than 1,000 feet in the air above the Shard skyscraper in London.

He countered by saying the pictures were taken during a rehearsal for the stunt, with the wires used purely for health and safety purposes.

His previous dramatic feats have also included the Thames River Walk in London, walking down the side of the LA Times building and levitating in front of the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The 31-year-old illusionist, who came to magic through tricks taught to him by his great-grandfather, recently spoke of how he has gained revenge on bullies who targeted him while growing up on Bradford's Delph Hill estate with his huge success.

In December last year, he again returned to his home city to receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Bradford, recognising his charity work and commitment to improving opportunities for young people.
