Performers are needed for a Bollywood show which will be staged in Bradford and broadcast live on television.

Bollywood Live, a one-hour spectacular for BBC Three, will take place in City Park on Sunday, June 9.

A partnership between the BBC and Bradford Unesco City of Film and its key partners, it forms part of the city’s celebrations of 100 Years of Indian cinema.

Updating the story of Bizet’s opera Carmen, the show will capture all the excitement and glamour of Bollywood – and organisers are seeking local people to be part of it.

“We need dancers, drummers and people who want to be part of our ‘flashmob’,” said a Bradford College spokesman.

“If you are over 18 and think you’ve got the talent, energy and commitment to be part of this show then come along and show us what you can do. No previous Bollywood experience is required.”

Open auditions will be held at Bradford College next Saturday and Sunday from 9am. Auditions for drummers are there on Sunday from 9am. Those attending are asked to bring a portable drum or dhol.
