Guiseley milliner Adele Morton is going global after landing an order from a New York buyer.

Adele, who celebrates 20 years in the business this year, was approached by the Big Apple’s largest hat retailer, Samuel’s Hats, to produce 15 hats for next year’s spring/summer collection after spotting her work on the internet.

She and her fellow milliner, Mark Favell, spent the few weeks before Christmas in the workroom at her namesake shop, Eleda Hats in Bradford Road, creating the collection which they sent to New York in time for the festive season.

Adele says this will give customers the opportunity to view the collections ahead of May’s Kentucky Derby – America’s equivalent to Royal Ascot, where Adele’s hats are regularly seen in the televised Ladies Day coverage.

Adele, who already supplies eight other shops and bridal boutiques in the UK, says she is delighted to have landed her first global assignment.

She says she has also had interest from boutique owners in Houston, Texas.

“I’m really excited and I just want to supply more shops in the States. I want to get my hats into shops all over the world,” says Adele.
