AN ARTIST from Cleckheaton is hosting an exhibition of his work at Bradford Brewery.

Peter Robson is displaying seven paintings in what he described as a "wonderful, Picasso-esque blue room" upstairs at the brewery on Rawson Road.

His work - which includes a depiction of the trenches in World War One, a critique of Britain's foreign policy in the Middle East, and migration - is driven by a desire to provoke questions on the decisions and actions of those in power.

The exhibition, entitled Room for a Few, is a pre-cursor to a larger one he is holding at Bradford Cathedral next year to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the Bradford PALS and the Battle of the Somme.

Mr Robson said: "I love the idea of an old room above a pub in Bradford. There is so little opportunity in Bradford to exhibit."

On the name of the exhibition, Mr Robson, 55, said: "This is not only a nod to the great film 'Room at the Top' which was filmed just down the road from where we are, but also a reflection on the plight of the world at the moment, in particular British and American foreign policy in the Middle East.

Brewery manager Alison Jackel said: "It is important for us to support artists within the local community. We have the space upstairs and we want it to be used."

The exhibition will be in place until the end of this month.
