A NEW exhibition at Bradford’s Cartwright Hall Art Gallery, pictured, will celebrate the international art collection held by the museum.

‘Eye of the Beholder: Taking Inspiration’ opens on Saturday and is the second exhibition in a series to mark the 25th anniversary of the museum’s collection.

It will feature four new commissions created by: artists and practitioners chosen for excellence in their particular field who work in a medium or theme complimentary to the international art collection.The four works are by: ceramic artist Lubna Chowdharywho creates tile-based artworks and has some pieces on display in Bradford; Soraya Syed, who trained in Islamic calligraphy in Istanbul and has produced an animated hologram for the exhibition; Eric Broug, a student of Islamic geometrywho has created a large screen comprising of 12 geometric designs charting historic and contemporary designs from throughout the Muslim world; and biologist and science manager Barbara Greene.whose piece incorporates hand-printed silk panels ouncillor Susan Hinchcliffe, Bradford Council’s executive member for employment, skills and culture, said: “This exhibition takes a fresh look at our own International Art Collection that has been built and informed by Bradfordians over the years.”

The exhibition runs until July 5this year.
