A new installation called Corners, by artist Jez Coram, allows visitors to peek into the usually hidden nooks and crannies of Bradford homes.

Corners is a constantly changing installation, as visitors to Bradford University’s Gallery II can see. They will also have the opportunity to watch a live feed of performance and discover the personal stories and relationships behind the artwork.

The exhibition asks us to think about how our thoughts, personality, memories and daydreams affect our relationship to the objects, furniture and spaces in our homes.

Three Bradford residents, Geoff Smith, Barry Langroyd Hanson and Graham Binns answered a call placed by Jez in the T & A and invited him into their homes to create this project.

They helped him to collect material, photos and video footage of their living spaces and spoken about their homes, possessions, furniture and memories.

The trusting relationship between Jez and the residents has become central to the work.

As part of Corners, Gallery II will also show work by collaborative artist Yvonne Carmichael who has approached the commission as a residency in her own home creating a series of short performances.

There will also be an activity space which chronicles the process and the artistic ideas of the participating residents.

The free exhibition runs until December 21 and then from January 14 to February 15, 2013.

Over the eight weeks the artists will be continually revisiting and reworking their methods. Expect the installation to shift and change and revisit the Gallery to see these transformations take place.
