What's on this weekend

Time and/or money on your hands this weekend? Here are our suggestions as to how to spend it… Comedy: Paddy McGuinness Mainstay of Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights and later Max and Paddy, and most recently that thing where him and Rory McGrath did loads of daft stuff, some of which looked like it hurt, Bolton lad Paddy McGuinness has a date at St George’s Hall in Bradford tomorrow. Tickets have been selling briskly, so you may have to get a move on. They’re £18.50. Check availability at (01274) 432000.

Film: The House Bunny After being thrown out of the Playboy Mansion, where she’s spent most of her life, bunny girl Shelley (Anna Faris) has to make her own way in the world. She fetches up at an American college and there’s just enough girl power stuff (with Shelley organising the socially-backward girls she ends up with into a fighting force to prevent their sorority house getting taken over) for this to be a movie for couples rather than a blokey ogle-fest. On general release from today.

Sport: England v Kazakhstan at Wembley This World Cup qualifier tomorrow is against a country largely known in the UK for having the mick taken out of it by Sacha Baron Cohen’s Borat character. Some facts to impress in the pub: Stalin deported many ethnic minorities to this vast country during his rule, and the team probably won’t be playing in Borat-style stretchy Speedos.

Telly: Peter Kay’s Britain’s Got the Pop Factor...

Has Paddy McGuinness’s better-known Bolton mate still got what it takes? Find out in Kay’s first new TV work for four years. As you might have guessed from the title, it’s a spoof of reality TV. But is reality TV beyond parody anyway? We’ll have to wait and see. Sunday at 8pm on Channel 4.
