Next Saturday, around 15,000 visitors will be making their way to Otley for the 2008 Show.

There will be thousands of entries in classes including cattle, sheep, horses, goats, poultry, pigeons, rabbits, dogs, produce, handicrafts and farriers.

One of the highlights will be a motorcycle stunts display by James Dyland Stuntworld.

There will also be fly fishing and birds of prey displays, a blacksmith's competition, army assault course and dog show. Ticket prices on the day: adults £8, senior citizens £5, children £2, car parking £2.

Dust off your trilby and your cross-over pinny and head for Haworth next Saturday and Sunday for the town's 1940s weekend where you can enjoy a wide range of nostalgic events - which usually include an RAF vintage plane flypast, a morale-boosting visit from Sir Winston Churchill and even the Queen Mother - as well as authentic swing jive dancing performed in the streets during both days.

Land Rover Owner Spring Adventure takes place today and tomorrow at Driffield Showground with all the regular attractions, including the immense off-road course at the army's training area adjacent to the showground itself. There is also a display of Land-Rover vehicles old and new. Admission prices are adults £12, children £6, family ticket £32. Call 0870 1201178 or visit the website on iroshow.co.uk

Next Saturday is Pudsey Carnival, which is set to bring a flood of colour to the streets with its World Food and Costume theme. The parade sets off at noon from Queen's Park. Phone (0113) 2360253 for more details.

An eight-week flower arranging class starts on Monday at Wibsey Methodist Church, School Lane, Wibsey, from 1pm to 3pm. The tutor will be Eileen Barraclough. For further information contact Bradford and Ilkley Arts and Technology Academy on (01943) 605920.

Get your trainers out of the back of the cupboard and join the Shipley Stride in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. The event, which is backed by the Telegraph & Argus, takes place next Sunday. As in previous years the sponsored five-and-a-half mile walk will take you from Shipley Glen on to Baildon Moor, and back to the Glen. This family-orientated event is suitable for walkers of all abilities, including children. To register for the walk, log on to Macmillan.org.uk or call (01924) 232440.

On Sunday, Friends of Northcliffe will be holding a spring flower and tree identification walk around the woods. Meet at the Cliffewood Avenue car park at 1.45pm. For more information contact Joan Stevens on (01274) 581868.

Tomorrow you can see Kwame D live on the lawn outside the Elm Gallery, high on Addingham Moorside in Ilkley. Kwame D's music is a rich mixture of reggae, and R&B will hopefully keep the sunshine on the Moorside. There will also be original paintings and drawings by local artists Liz Clarke and Dave Marsh in the gallery and prints, cards and gifts will be on sale. The free event runs from 2pm until 5pm, with the gallery open from 10am to 6pm.

Gather your friends and family round next Friday and hold a tea party to raise money for the Blue Cross which looks after sick and homeless animals. The charity is also hosting a Tea Time Treat competition for people to show off their baking expertise. For details visit bluecrossteaparty.org.uk or telephone 08444 993663.
