SPOOKY Halloween fun is coming to the district this weekend.

If they dare, people can have a look around haunted buildings or don their scariest fancy dress outfits for parades.

Keen ghost hunters can visit East Riddlesden Hall, Keighley, tomorrow for a tour of the haunted mansion and to hear spooky stories in dimly lit rooms.

Visitors can also find out what spells spiders and other creepy-crawlies were used for, invent their own spells and make witches and wizards hats at the free event from 1pm to 2pm.

Entry to Bradford Police Museum will be free for children this weekend, where you can explore the court room and jail cells, and where Chains Charlie, the ghost of City Hall, may be causing mischief.

It is open from 12pm to 4pm tomorrow, with the last tour at 3.15pm.

Keighley town centre is being transformed all day tomorrow for Halloween, with a ghost ship sailing into town joined by some special spooky visitors at the free event.

Elsewhere in Keighley, a Halloween-themed open day is being staged at the former Beales store in Hanover Street tomorrow. The event which lasts from 11am to 4pm, will include live music.

At Harold Park in Low Moor, there will be a free Halloween party from 4pm to 6pm. A barbecue will take place, along with music stalls, a ghost hunt and more activities, including a fancy dress parade, with the scariest costume being decided at 5.30pm.

Haworth is marking Halloween with two parades in the village, led by a dragon on Saturday and the parade of ghouls up Main Street on Sunday, running from 10am to 4pm both days.

The Broadway will celebrate Spooky Saturday tomorrow with a variety of Halloween-themed events in the centre during the day.

On Sunday, there will be a Halloween party in the Airedale barn at East Riddlesden Hall. There will be music, face painting and fancy dress is essential, and tickets cost £1 for adults and £5 for children and can be booked by calling 0344 2491895.

Elsewhere, in the city centre, the second super Saturday of the Family Learning Festival will take place, with activities in the City Library, Local Studies Library, Impressions Gallery, National Media Museum, and more from 11am to 3pm.

Peel Park fireworks extravaganza takes place tomorrow evening, with two displays and giant fun fair. The main display starts at 8.30pm, with a children’s display at 6.30pm, and the event opens at 5pm, with admission costing £3.

Chilli Day is taking place at Wibsey Park community garden from 11am to 3pm tomorrow.

During the weekend, there will be outdoor arts displays in Darley Street by the old Marks and Spencer building throughout the day, as part of the National Street Arts Conference.

On Sunday, the Great Yorkshire pork pie and sausage competition is taking place at Cedar Court Hotel from 10.30am to 2pm.
