A WORLD War One event, a Spanish-themed festival and a big 'play day' will form part of a busy weekend of activities across the Bradford district.

The WW1 day will take place at Bolling Hall museum, from 11am to 4pm tomorrow (Saturday).

The free event will be held in a tented encampment, where people can learn from soldiers about life during the war, and handle equipment used during the war.

Also opening this weekend at the Cartwright Hall Art Gallery will be an exhibition showcasing the work of one of the UK’s most celebrated contemporary artists.

Tony Bevan, born in Bradford in 1951, will show some of his finest work, at the exhibition, which opens tomorrow. It will be open from 11am to 4pm this weekend, and will be open at the gallery, in Lister Park, until February 2017.

Frizinghall Community Centre, in Midland Road, will host a charity Eid Bazaar from 1pm to 5pm tomorrow, organised by the Shipley Masjid Association, including a bouncy castle, face-painting and games.

The Bradfermin Festival, a Spanish fiesta being held in Bradford’s Independent Quarter, will also take place tomorrow. The festival will begin at 2pm at Bradford Brewery, in Rawson Road, featuring Spanish music and DJs, a barbecue, dancing, singing, and a lot of sangria, as well as a pub crawl around the Independent Quarter.

In City Park from 1pm to 4pm tomorrow, there will be a big city play day, where the square will be transformed into a huge playground for children, including den building, bungee trampolines, a climbing tower and much more.

Wibsey Warriors is holding a fun day on Saturday to raise funds for the club and the Danny Jones Defibrillator Fund, at the club in Northfield Road, from 10am to 3pm. There will be a bouncy castle, stalls, free rugby coaching for children and a beer stall for parents, at the free event.

Dixons Trinity Academy and Dixons Music Primary are holding their summer fair at the school in Trinity Road, tomorrow, from 11am to 2pm.

Sedbergh summer fair, including a bouncy castle, will take place from 11.30am to 3pm tomorrow, at Sedbergh Community Centre in Huddersfield Road, Odsal.

Stanningley fire station will hold an open day tomorrow to raise money for the Firefighters charity and Marie Curie. There will be lots of activities for children and fire service displays at the station, in Stanningley Road, from 12pm to 4pm, at the free event.

A garden party will be taking place at St Saviour’s Church in Ings Way, Fairweather Green, from 12pm to 2.30pm.

There will be food stalls and games at the free event, with entertainment being provided by a Caribbean steel band.

The Mothers Union will be holding a cream tea party at the Holy Trinity Church in Low Moor, from 2pm to 4pm, where a variety of homemade cakes will be on sale.

On Sunday, the Brontë Sportive will take place, starting and finishing at the Keighley campus of Leeds City College, in Bradford Road.

Riders will take on three courses of differing difficulty, all taking in more than 30 miles of the Tour de Yorkshire route, all in aid of the Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.

Riders will set off between 7.30am and 9.30am on Sunday morning, and keen cyclists can still register to take part on the Sue Ryder website.
