A THREE day food extravaganza and a weekend packed with free live bands are promised for the finale of Saltaire Festival.

Music and food fans will flood to the historic village, beginning with the massive continental market that fills Exhibition Road with exotic tastes and smells and starts tomorrow.

And gourmands will be extra spoilt for choice this year as another market with traditional gifts and goodies will also be held in Roberts Park.

The authentic continental market with traders offering global delights will be the first port of call for the thousands of visitors drawn by a range of events including live bands, the Arts Trail and much more.

Bands on the main stage in the park on Saturday include rock and roll combo The 309s, whose infectious swing and rockabilly is sure to get the joint jumping.

Blue Star Tattoo are a guitar driven classic rock covers band with a big reputation across the north. They have performed hundreds of times and and have built a dedicated following for there high power professionalism,

They will be followed by original Bradford four-piece Nervous 'Orse, whose unique musicianship has earned them a reputation as "troubadours creating joyous sounds, familiar yet new".

The Craig Brauns band close the show and their explosive funky country rock lead by high energy vocals will make for a wild full-throated climax.

The Caroline Social Club car park will also be transformed into a cock-pit of live music across the Saturday and Sunday with a host of primarily acoustic bands taking the stage as part of the Live Room Inside Out event.

Saltaire Festival deputy chairman Julie Hemmings said it promised to be a fantastic weekend for food and music lovers alike.

"The markets will be great, but the music is what a lot of people come for and all the people who perform at Saltaire get a great reception and always want to come back," she said.

Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe, Bradford Council's executive member for culture, said: "I always look forward to Saltaire Festival.

"The markets and the great variety of food they offer are something people really enjoy."

Diana Greenwood, of Bradford Council’s Market Service, said: "We are delighted be able to deliver these two markets as part of the long-standing Saltaire Festival.

"The centre of Saltaire as well as Roberts Park will play host to an array of activities over the three days and will offer customers a chance to taste and buy some quality produce. I’m sure there will be something for everyone."
