FAMILIES poured into Keighley Show at the weekend as the sunshine provided a stark contrast to last year’s downpours.

Thousands of people enjoyed sauntering around the showfield next to Marley sports field to see a host of agricultural and horticultural attractions.

They were able to see traditional show sections such as livestock, horses and flowers as well as unusual classes like best sock puppet and waggiest-tailed dog.

There were also a huge number of trade stands, stalls hosted by local organisations, and entertainment from the likes of the City of Bradford Pipe Band.

Keighley and District Agricultural Society, which has run the show since 1957, spent £35,000 on this year’s event.

Show secretary Katrina Thackray said: “I’m pleased with how the day went. We had a constant stream of people this year from late morning onwards. We always aim to get families.”

This year’s show president was Christine Highley, who has been involved with the event for many years.

She said: “I first got involved through an interest in horses, and it’s been an opportunity to work with a nice group of volunteers.”
