FRIENDLY rivalry between two different allotment sites is all part of the fun at Baildon Horticultural Society’s annual show this weekend.

And display tables at Sandal Primary School will be loaded with the finest home-grown garden produce, cakes, preserves, handicrafts and children's classes, said organiser Jennifer Madeley.

"We usually have some 135 different entries and it's going to be a big set up," Ms Madeley said.

"There are two allotment sites in Baildon, one at Charlestown and the other at Thompson Lane, and so there's a bit of friendly competition between them. But it's only friendly rivalry between some of the gents.

"We also have a couple of people who come from Wakefield and Keighley to take part in the vegetable classes," she said.

"There will also be a cafe and stalls selling all sorts of things including lovely home-made cakes and baking and we'll also have a tombola."

Conservative Shipley MP Philip Davies will be presenting the prizes.

Doors open to the public at 2pm on Sunday, but anyone wishing to enter produce or other categories should contact Baildon Horticultural Society in advance.
