HUNDREDS of children have enjoyed outdoor fun and learned about nature during Wild Wednesdays at the Bracken Hall countryside centre on Shipley Glen throughout the summer holidays.

The two hour sessions, organised by the Friends of Bracken Hall and supported by Baildon Town Council, at the stunning location have brought people from far afield, said Friends chairman John Dallas.

"It's gone extremely well with families coming from not just Baildon and Shipley, but Ilkley and even Cracoe in the Dales," Mr Dallas said.

"And we've done all sorts - making rockets with the Keighley Astronomy Society, studying moths and butterflies with the Bradford Urban Wildlife Group, painting, necklace making and walks to look for summer plants and animals.

"These are all free activities run by the Friends of Bracken Hall which now has some 80 members.

"Wild Wednesdays have been a great way for children to find out what's around them in the countryside in different ways they can easily understand."

The last Wild Wednesday takes place today at 2pm. For more details contact Mr Dallas on 07890 916844.
