KEIGHLEY youngsters headed 'Over The Rainbow' at a fun workshop in the town's Airedale Shopping Centre.

The activity day was the first of four being staged in the precinct this month to keep children entertained during the school summer holidays.

The opening session, hosted by Clara Colourpot and Sky, included story telling and creation, crafts, 'invisible' painting and flying unicorns.

Among those taking part was five-year-old Oliver Shoesmith, from Oakworth, who attended with mum Claire.

She said: "We just came in for some shopping and saw this event. Oliver enjoyed himself making a weather forecasting device.

"He learned quite a bit about the weather too and had a good time."

Airedale Shopping Centre manager Steve Seymour said he was delighted to see so many youngsters at the event.

"Even if they didn't manage to find that elusive pot of gold they all seemed to have great fun!" he added.

A Shooting Stars event will be held on Wednesday. On Wednesday, August 19, Billy the Brick and Hannah the Hammer will run a Brilliant Builders day.

The sessions will conclude with Let's Go Camping on August 26, when children will learn the basics of setting-up camp and sing campfire songs.
