THOUSANDS of Bradford children enjoyed free fun at the national play day 2015 flagship event at Baildon Recreation Centre yesterday.

Play Day, now in its 28th day, celebrates every child’s right to play and the district marks the campaign annually with a week packed full of activities organised by Bradford Council.

The Lord Mayor of Bradford Councillor Joanne Dodds joined in the afternoon of thrills which included a spider tower, climbing wall, soapy waterslide, donkey rides, a rodeo bull, a treasure hunt, den-building, a mini-beach, reptile house, bungee trampoline, a special under fives area and much, much more.

Councillor Michelle Swallow, Bradford Council’s Play Champion, said: "Each year, everyone involved in play in Bradford calls on people to celebrate National Playday and show why play is fundamental for children's enjoyment of childhood."

Baildon Councillor Debbie Davies said the event always drew great crowds with coachloads of youngsters from across the district.

"It was good weather and so there were huge numbers and great long queues for the rides, but nobody minds about that because it's all free," said Cllr Davies (Con).
