CREATIVE families can make textile art at a free drop-in event at Bradford tomorrow.

Designer Claire Wellesley-Smith, who is based at The Hive in Shipley, will lead a session making textile art which takes inspiration from the International Art Collection at Cartwright Hall Art Gallery.

Cartwright Hall manager Janet Simmonds said the drop-in session would be good for families.

"We just want to be able to encourage people to come along and have a go," she added.

"It is a family bonding activity, people can learn together.

"Claire is really good at working with the public and inspiring people to create work.

"People who take part can learn new skills which they can take forward. The drop-in session will not be creating one large piece as everyone will be able to take home what they create.

"It is being able to have a go at something new and working with an artist."

The event takes place at Cartwright Hall Art Gallery, Lister Park, between 11am and 3pm and has been funded by Arts Council England.
