HUNDREDS of people flocked to the Canterbury Carnival in Bradford today followed by a family fun day in Horton Park.

Organisers said around 500 people visited the event, which included a funfair, puppet shows, circus skills, and a range of stalls.

Nabbil Khan, chairman of the Friends of Horton Park group, said he hoped the day had raised around £1,000 towards a £26,000 project to install an outdoor gym in the park.

"We want to involve the community in the plans, and people have been really supportive," he said.

"We have already installed a new play area, and the park is going from strength to strength.

"This is the second time the Friends of Horton Park have been involved in this event, and loads of people came down to support the day.

"It was forecast for heavy rain, but the weather has been fairly kind to us.

"It is something a bit different for the park, and everyone has said it was a great family day out."

The event was also supported by the Asda store on Canterbury Avenue.
