VISITORS stepped back in time at Bradford Industrial Museum to learn more about the past.

Grand Day Out attracted more than 1,000 visitors yesterday who were treated to an action-packed day of activities at the venue in Moorside Mills, Eccleshill.

The annual event gave people the chance to see what life was like for families living in 1875, 1945 and 1975.

A mock-up version of a house from each of the three years, and the inventions of the time, were also on display.

It also had a demonstration of people washed clothes in the old days.

A falconer was on site with a range of birds including kestrel and owls and The Home Guard and a brass band were also among the attractions.

The 1975 section of the event featured a VW camper van and a 1970s-style disco.

Visitors services supervisor at the museum David McIlory said: "It has been an uproaring success. We have run the event for the last ten years and each year it gets bigger and bigger.

"I did not see a face that wasn't smiling from the visitors."
