THE pounding of hooves is getting closer to Saltaire with Epilepsy Action’s annual Reindeer Stampede due to take place on Sunday.

The 5k festive family fun run will raise vital funds to help support more than 21,000 people living with the condition across West Yorkshire.

The event will see a herd of ‘reindeer’ in various guises trotting a circular route in Roberts Park, and the run is open to anyone aged eight and over with younger children able to do their own mini Reindeer Stampede of 650 metres.

Registration on the day of the event starts at 9am in Roberts Park. Advance entry costs £12 for adults and £6 for children under 15. The children’s fun run, for those under the age of eight, costs £2.50. People can sign up on the day for an additional £2.

And, perhaps most importantly, reindeer antlers and Santa hats can be bought from Epilepsy Action for £2.50 and all finishers will receive a medal and mince pie.
