HAWORTH’s Victorian cobbles heaved beneath the weight of a thousand heavily-costumed steampunks who arrived for a three-day festival of historical fact and fiction.
And organiser and parish councillor Nikki Carroll said the weekend was such a roaring success it was already agreed to host another next year.
“It began with a great burlesque show in the Parkside Social Club on Friday night and has been a brilliant festival with at least a thousand steampunks all in their own totally unique costumes,” Cllr Carroll said.
“We’ve had a replica of Mercedes Benz’s first motor wagon from 1886 sat in Main Street, plus the 400 Roses dancing group, the Bradford marching pipe band and two venues dedicated to steam punk market stalls.
“And the best thing is every single penny raised will be going to Manorlands hospice,” Cllr Carroll said.
