Hi Veld Theatre Company's Swift Foot Home is a synthesis of live dance, poetry and video installation by South African choreographer Lucy Hind.
Artistic director of Hi Veld and for the past two years emerging artist in residence at the University-based Theatre in the Mill, Lucy Hind's show is a personal exploration of the idea of home as an internal place, a set of associations, feelings, smells that exist no matter where you are.
Swift Foot Home was inspired by the writings of acclaimed South African poets and features film of an African childhood in contemporary South Africa by Alan Lane and the poetry of Jodie Marshall.
Both the show and the video installation have been commissioned by Theatre in the Mill as part of the Backing Talent programme in which up-and-coming artists are given the opportunity and support to present their work and further their careers.
Theatre in the Mill opened in 1976, since when it has gained a wide reputation for actively supporting experimental, innovative new writing and devised work.
Swift Foot Home can be seen at Bradford University's Gallery II from March 28-30, starting at 7.30pm. The box office number is (01274) 233200. Video installations at Gallery II run from March 26-30 between 11am and 5pm.
