Jimmy Carr, St George's Hall
It's easy to tell from the title of Jimmy Carr's latest stand-up show that it's not intended for a sensitive audience.
St George's Hall was full to capacity as the popular TV comic brought his one-night show, Repeat Offender, to Bradford.
The show included a few of the safer subjects that we're used to seeing Jimmy perform on TV but the majority of the material was, indeed, shocking but nonetheless hilarious.
Jimmy Carr's talent for turning taboo subjects to his comic advantage as well as his ability to poke fun at himself and the audience is what makes his show so enjoyable.
It was not so much stand-up as sit-down comedy at various stages of the night. At one point he sat at a desk and, later, in one of the more bizarre segments of the show, he moved to a sofa and delivered a series of clever and memorable "philosophical" lines to jazz background music with "atmospheric" smoke billowing from the stage.
A few of the jokes, as he admitted during the show, had already been seen on TV, unfortunately just the night before when he appeared on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross.
Now one of the most familiar comic faces on TV, Jimmy is a natural funny man and, despite his characteristic deadpan delivery, his obvious enthusiasm at his live show is infectious. His banter with the audience was the highlight, with plenty of members willing to join in.
