The National Media Museum is the first UK cinema to show breathtaking underwater adventure Wild Ocean 3D – Where Africa Meets The Sea.
The inspirational IMAX documentary, exploring the relationship between man and the endangered ocean eco-system, was filmed off the Wild Coast of South Africa and the KwaZulu Natal Coast, where the fish of the sea have provided a source of food for local people for generations.
The writer, editor and director is Steve McNicholas, who started his career with the Bradford Theatre Group.
The spectacular underwater adventure highlights one of nature’s greatest migration spectacles, plunging viewers into an underwater feeding frenzy. It’s an epic struggle for survival where whales, sharks, dolphins, seals, gannets and billions of fish collide with mankind.
The documentary reveals the economic and cultural impact of the ocean in this part of the world, while celebrating communal efforts to protect invaluable marine resources.
Dick Vaughan, the museum’s IMAX theatre manager, says: “We are delighted to be the first UK cinema to screen Wild Ocean 3D. The cinematography and music is beyond imagination. The 3D elements make you feel like you’re a part of the crew along the African coast.”
