Dinosaurs Alive! 3D (cert PG, 40mins) at Bradford IMAX cinema
When you see giant three-dimensional dinosaurs roaming and roaring in front of you, it's easy to forget that they don't actually exist anymore.
Dinosaurs Alive! 3D is a spellbinding adventure taking audiences through the age of dinosaurs and into the world of science and discovery.
Narrated by Michael Douglas, the film blends spectacular animation with a fascinating documentary following a team of paleontologists as they uncover new fossils, including the remains of what may be the oldest dinosaur ever found in America.
The real-life scientific adventure looks at the crucial finds that have revolutionised our understanding of these mysterious creatures, and stunningly realistic computer-generated imagery transforms the fossils into more than eight species of living, breathing dinosaurs.
We flinched as a Tarbosaurus - a relative of the T.Rex - charged out of the screen towards us and we peeked out between our fingers during a fierce battle between a Velociraptor and a Protoceratops. Locked in combat as a sand dune smothers them, the pair of fighting dinosaurs emerge millions of years later as a fossil, clearly revealing that they perished with claws and jaws clutching each other.
Bradford's IMAX cinema is the first British cinema outside London to screen this film. It's a must-see coup for our city.
Dinosaurs Alive! 3D opens on Satur-day at the National Media Museum's IMAX screen. Ring 0870 70 10 200.
