Historic Lister Mills will play host to a dazzling array of art never before exhibited in West Yorkshire.
The Brass Necked Interloper, hosted at exhibition space in Velvet Mill, features a diverse range of art, including offerings of drawings, paintings and sculpture.
The exhibition is the brainchild of Hebden Bridge-based curator and artist James Alderson. James has received funding from the Arts Council to showcase his debut presentation. He believes it will be at home in the historic buildings of Lister Mills.
"The art scene in Bradford is slowly growing and I'm delighted to be able to bring such fantastic pieces of work to the city," says James. "The Brass Necked Interloper has an element of art to suit all tastes and the stunning surroundings of Lister Mills just adds to the whole experience."
The exhibition includes work from Caroline Thomson, whose paintings generally depict a sense of absence and loss, Lorna Davies whose drawings explore the tension between the pleasures of escapism and the demands of conscience, and sculptor Dan Mort, who describes his work as possible sculpture', fusing disparate items, materials and production techniques.
A spokesman for Urban Splash, the company behind the transformation of the former Manningham Mills into Lister Mills, a residential, business, commercial and arts complex, said: "It is great that this historic building is once again engaging with the community in a way that an innovator like Samuel Lister would have been proud of, combining history and heritage with wonderful art and culture.
"Urban Splash is delighted to be able to support James by hosting The Brass Necked Interloper and we look forward to welcoming more community projects in the near future."
