Armadillo From A Modern Bestiary by Ana Maria Pacheco, which is features in an exhibition at West Yorkshire Print Workshop’s gallery in Mirfield
An exhibition telling stories through artwork has opened at West Yorkshire Print Workshop’s gallery in Mirfield.
Featuring artists Stephen Chambers, Ana Maria Pacheco, Pauline Meade and John Hamilton, the exhibition forms the second part of the gallery’s ‘Story’ season which has included exhibitions and a series of children’s workshops.
Stephen Chambers, whose work is described as ‘speaking of states of mind, behaviours and sensibilities’, is showing a series of etchings and colourful screen prints.
Brazilian Ana Maria Pacheco, a sculptor, painter and printmaker, is showing two series of prints; John Hamilton’s work depicts figures in various disguises or costumes with a continuous theme of role-play; and Pauline Meade is displaying work based on ancient myths. The exhibition is aimed at inspiring visitors to make up stories of their own. A series of children’s workshops will be held in the gallery during the Easter break.
