Nail sculptures created by Bingley artist Marcus Levine are going on display next month.
The exhibition, Hammered Again, showcases contemporary still life created by hand-driven alloy nails on boards.
Marcus, who went to art college with Damian Hirst, uses thousands of nails in his sculptures.
The former Fulneck Boys School pupil worked as a graphic designer in television, then for his family business, before becoming a professional artist. He first had the idea for sculpting with nails while a student, and later started experimenting with nail sculpture, creating extraordinary representations of the human form.
“I liked the idea of a metal form undulating,” said Marcus, who drives 20mm cabinet nails into wooden panels at various heights and distances, creating the effect of shading, in 3D.
Hammered Again, is at the Finite Showhouse, 109 Harrogate Road, Yeadon, on June 25 and 26. For more details, ring (0113) 8155636 or visit levine-art.co.uk
