As part of the ongoing ‘Sacred’ installation programme at the Delius Art and Cultural Centre, artist Helen Wood has been invited to show new work created in response to a mini residency in the historic building.
The Delius Centre, based in Bradford’s German Church, opened as an arts centre last year following a £350,000 refurbishment funded by the Local Enterprise Growth Initiative and Waste Recycling Environmental Limited.
Helen spent time drawing the site from the inside then making films from the outside, including one taken on the circular journey that the free city centre bus, which stops outside the Delius Centre, makes.
Responding particularly to circuits and patterns of everyday life going on around the quietness and stillness within the church, she has made work that draws attention to the special quality of the ordinary.
Her two projections in the church, shown in a circular format and appearing to float in the space, draw the viewer in to the wonder attached to daily experience.
The exhibition runs at the Delius Centre, Great Horton Road, until Wednesday.
