I wasn’t to their taste, or in their style, but this house in Croftlands must have had something, because the current owners have lived there since 2006.

“We could see the potential in terms of its size and design, and also it was in a very pleasant area with great views across the valley. The proximity to the local amenities and schools was also an important factor too when we were looking to move to the area.”

Now being offered with no chain, it was originally built 15 years ago; and together with the house next door were used as the show houses for the development.

Up until 2010 all the owners did was re-decorate the rooms a couple of times. “Then in 2011 we decided to really go to town and totally revamp/re-model the whole house.”

They certain did ‘go to town’. In fact there can be very little of the original house left.

All external doors and windows were replaced and the rear garden landscaped to create a multi-tiered decking area which included reworking all the borders to create a very nice looking and easy to maintain rear garden.”

“The garage was converted into a second reception room which was initially used as a pool/snooker room for the children before becoming e a second TV room/lounge.”

They then extended into loft to create a new master bedroom suite including a large bedroom with on-suite double shower, walk in wardrobe and plenty of storage cupboards. A roof window was added for even more fantastic views across the valley and a large rear facing dormer with views over toward Baildon moors.

Upstairs rooms were re-plastered and redecorated, the house bathroom suite replaced with a modern suite with whirlpool bath and the layout of the old master bedroom was altered and the old en-suite became the second house bathroom

The layout of downstairs was changed to create a large dining kitchen; with new modern gloss units, built-in appliances, a double oven, floating extractor hood and good sized breakfast bar with a stone tiled floor.

In the main reception room, fire surround and fire were replaced as were most of the radiators in the house.

The second garage became a home officer and the front garden re-landscaped to include a large block-paved driveway, easy to maintain borders, a grassed area and a small decked.

And still they hadn’t finished. “We changed the decor and style of other reception into a playroom for our youngest son. Then to create additional storage, we boarded out the loft space above the second garage.”

My favourite room would be the new master bedroom - a fantastically airy and pleasant place to be and the views to both the front and rear are a real bonus. Then the new playroom because of the time we spent in there with my youngest son.

“Since I work at home I spend a lot of time in the office and it is the perfect working environment with everything I need at hand. I'd also say the new kitchen/dining area was a favourite, again because of the time spent in that room.

“Finally it has to be the rear garden on summer evenings, which is private and safe for children with three gates to open before you get to the front. We added some children's play apparatus and tables/chairs and spent many a lunch time and evening dining outside.

“The best thing about living here is that we have managed to get the whole house exactly the way we wanted it; from the layout of the rooms to the decor to the garden. It's is perfect for us and we will all miss it greatly.”
