Yorkshire based housebuilder Barratt Homes has announced that it will start work on six new local projects during 2013. When complete, these developments will deliver 883 new homes and underpin hundreds of jobs in the local area. The new programme of projects will underpin future growth – including site acquisitions, major new planning wins and partnerships. Following an increase in sales to £35.6 across the Yorkshire region and legally completing 218 homes during the six months to December 2012.

Sam Wood, sales director for Barratt Yorkshire West, commented: “Buyer confidence is steadily improving and we’re seeing encouraging demand for our homes “The fact that we are starting new sites is also good news for local jobs.

“One of the key issues for anyone buying a home continues to be getting the right mortgage. NewBuy, the 95 per cent mortgage backed by government, is only available on new build homes, which means customers – both first time buyers and home movers – only need a five per cent deposit.”

Barratt is planning to start a range of new developments in the next 12 months, including: 285 units in Wakefield, 180 units in Thurcroft, 36 in Pudsey, 48 in Pontefract, 140 in Yeadon and 194 in Otley.
