You wouldn’t believe it, but in a previous incarnation when this now charming home was built in the 1960s it was as a water pumping station that housed a turbine to pump water up to the village.

With stunning views, this excellent family home in a secluded position is beautifully appointed.

“We wanted to live in a house that was in a quiet spot with fantastic views and this house certainly ticked all the boxes,” says the current owner.

“We asked the estate agent who was selling our home if he knew of something ‘spectacular’. Luckily for us, he did.”

When the owners saw it in 2005 it was in the process of being converted. “It was nearing completion, so we were able to chose the colours and the kitchen etc. It was like buying a brand new home.”

Over the last 11 years the owners have carried out a number of improvements, including converting the garage. “It wasn’t being used, apart from as a dumping ground, so we converted it into a gorgeous usable play room, which doubles as a guest bedroom. The extra living space is amazing and we still kept part of the garage for storage.”

Two years ago, when they were expecting their third child they moved part of the massive bedroom downstairs to create four bedrooms upstairs, while keeping a sink and toilet upstairs. “The new bathroom is lovely and has a fantastic shower and bath which we added to the extended downstairs toilet area.

“At the same time we opened up the French doors and dividing walls between the kitchen and dining room and put in a new kitchen in what is now a beautiful living space for the whole family, as well as adding solar panels to help with heating costs.”

This is truly a unique home, which can be seen from many locations around the district.

“It’s a very comfortable family home with a lovely built in gas fire in the lounge, a combi boiler which keeps the house at a perfect temperature all the year round.”

The floors are mainly carpeted apart from the kitchen/dining room which has slate effect laminate.

In the kitchen there is a built in double oven, five ring gas hob and a built in dishwasher. “The utility room houses the washing machine and a vented tumble dryer for wet day.”

When it comes to their favourite rooms the owners have trouble choosing. “Most of the rooms are our favourites as they all have spectacular views, especially over the firework season and particularly New Years Eve, when the whole of Bradford sets of their fireworks on the stroke of midnight.”

The owners would admit to not being keen gardeners, so the garden has been designed with that in mind.

“It’s themed as a nature area with wild flowers around a pond. We use the garden a lot, especially the children, who play out all the time, getting lots of fresh air.

“Living here has been a wonderful time in a wonderful house with many happy memories. We are only moving to be nearer school and our parents.

“Queensbury is a lovely village with lots of good shops, good schools and a real community life.

“We will miss just being in a green and spacious place. I’ll miss New Years Eve and sometimes I love to just lie on the grass at night and watch the stars, which you really notice much more in a rural area without light pollution.”
