Dacre, Son & Hartley, Bingley

The current owners of this charming canal-side home didn’t let an abundance of green carpet, paint effects and an out-dated kitchen put them off when they first saw it eight years ago.

“We fell in love with the far-reaching Aire valley views and canal side location as well as the large rooms and feeling of space. We often have friends and family to stay so the three bathrooms were a big attraction.”

Built in 1999 the house was in good condition when they bought, if not decorated to their taste. “ There was a lot of green carpet, some paint effects and the kitchen was a little dated.”

Since they moved in they have redecorated, had curtains and blinds made, the kitchen was replaced four years by Flavell Kitchens in Bingley and the majority of the carpets replaced.

Forming part of a superb canal side development this impressive town house offers well appointed accommodation planned over four floors.

The accommodation includes an entrance hall, cloakroom with WC, utility room, spacious light and airy living accommodation with open plan lounge and dining area with balcony’s to both front and rear

The kitchen is fitted with a range of modern fitted wall and base units, Neff appliances including an electric double oven, integrated microwave, integrated dishwasher, one and a half bowl stainless steel sink units, five ring gas hob with extractor canopy over, double glazed window to the front elevation,

Together with kick board lighting and wood effect flooring throughout the kitchen is nopen plan to the dining space where there are double doors out on to a balcony at the front.

On the second floor there are two double bedrooms with en suite shower room with step in shower cubicle, and the partly tiled house bathroom.

The magnificent master bedroom suite on the top floor has ample living and study areas, a range of fitted wardrobes, a further balcony overlooking the canal. Another impressive space, the en suite bathroom has a four piece suite including a step in cubicle, pedestal wash basin, WC, air bath and partly tiled walls.

Planned for modern living the property takes full advantage of the views from the front and rear balconies with the front attracting the morning sunshine and the rear balcony enjoying a sunny aspect well into the evening during the summer months. There is also a tandem double garage.

“Our favourite room is the open plan kitchen, dining and living space. It is dual aspect with balconies both sides and we love cooking, entertaining and relaxing in it.”

Their home lies between Three and Five rise locks so close to Bingley and on an attractive stretch of canal. “The canal is great for running, cycling and for pushing a pram, fortunately the garage is a good size so there is plenty of space for cycling equipment. On a lazier day it is lovely to sit and watch the world go by or to feed the ducks.”

The house has three balconies and a canal side patio: “So should the sun be shining there is always somewhere to appreciate it. It is lovely to have a barbecue watching the passing narrow boats or enjoy the evening sun by the canal with a glass of wine.

“We will miss relaxing in the Jacuzzi bath after a walk to Saltaire by the canal and being so close to our beloved Bingley, but most of all we really will miss the view, it is fascinating how it changes with the seasons.”
