SIR - For those of us who were around during the Cuban missile crisis of 1962 when the two major super powers US and USSR brought us close to world war three, developments in Syria should be of concern to us all.

Bashair Al-Assad, Syria's dictator, has committed horrific acts on Syrian civilians but western leaders are responsible for the chaos that sweeps across the region, their interventions in Iraq, and Libya have made the middle east worse not better. and is the reason why we have a refugee crisis in the world.

But let's take a look at the hypocrisy of the Tory Government where last week Theresa May congratulated Egyptian dictator Addel Fattah El-Sisi for winning a blatantly fixed election. The Tory Government sells arms to Saudi Arabia, which is waging a bloody war in Yemen

Foreign secretary Boris Johnson has congratulated Prime minister Victor Orlans right wing racist Fidez party for its victory in the Hungarian general election. A party that is anti semitic and believes in a world Jewish conspiracy.

Governments are not to be trusted with Syria and we should make our voices clear 'no bombing of Syria and no selling of arms to despotic regimes'.
