SIR - I am writing to you about your recent story "Bradford store founder dies" which was about the life story of Mr EW Busby.
As a child, my mother often went shopping into Bradford with me in tow.
I was probably five years old and we went to Millets for school clothes, to Morrisons and John Street Market, before ending up in Busby's.
They seemed very friendly to my mother, even though we were poor but still managed to pay our own way.
Then as a last resort we would end up in Brown Muffs on the top floor again. I remember the full-length fur coats, incredibly with a price tag. I wonder now if they were bear skins?
The Busby's staff made us very welcoming, as in all the Bradford stores.
Still, we did end up with a reward for our effort: either an ice cream or cream in a Horlicks drink.
Thank you T&A for a lovely trip down memory lane.
Jack Briggs, Mary Street, Shipley
