SIR - Mr G Glover may be a 'grumpy old geezer' (T&A letters, April 9) but he's bang on about the schools closing for snow.

I'm not as old as Mr Glover but my school never closed for snow in 13 years, 1969-82, through some of the worst winters in recorded history. We also never had a 'school run'.

The way the schools now close as soon as it snows is pathetic and sends the wrong message to the kids.

Whatever the reasons for this it's wrong and it is wider than just schools, and is a damning endictment on our 'snowflake' society today.
