SIR – Ex-Conservative Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne has just been appointed editor of the London Evening Standard newspaper at an unknown salary but I would guess a little more than the average wage.
This will supplement not only his MP’s pay but also the four day week with a financial institution paying approximately £600,000. This at first sight would seem to be greedy but it could be his way of proving the statement he made regarding the country’s deficit, “We are all in it together” by accumulating this wealth to be shared out between those of us who really are “in it”.
