Bradford residents looking to the skies last night were greeted with a stunning view of the moon.

The Harvest Moon, which is the first full moon rising closest to the autumnal equinox, rose late this year.

And thanks to a cloud-free sky last night and early this morning West Yorkshire was bathed in lunar light.

The name Harvest Moon dates from when farmers needed brighter light to gather crops, and the full moon allowed them to work for longer in preparation for winter.
