BRADFORD College has bucked the national trend by recording a rise in student satisfaction levels.

The latest National Student Survey revealed the College’s University Centre has seen an average four per cent improvement in satisfaction of students on its degree-level courses.

The rise is in contrast to the national picture which shows declining satisfaction among higher education students. In the majority of measures, the College exceeded national averages.

Individual subjects posting particularly high satisfaction scores include the Foundation Degree in Hospitality and Travel Management and the HND Diploma in Creative Media Production, both of which posted 100 per cent satisfied students. Impressive feedback figures were also received for the college’s LLB (Hons) Law Degree and Ophthalmic Dispensing Foundation Degree with 96 per cent and 96.3 per cent of students saying they were happy with the quality of their education.

Richard Thomas, Provost at Bradford College, welcomed the results. “I am delighted to see the upward trend in satisfaction levels at Bradford College.

“Credit for these improved results must go to the committed staff at the college who are dedicated to giving our students an excellent, employment-focussed higher education experience in a supportive environment.

“The college has invested in new buildings and improved resources recently and it is pleasing to see that investment make a major contribution to the satisfaction of our students

“Our intention is to build on these results by continuing to work with students to further improve areas that are important to them and enhance their student experience with us.”

In the areas of the survey covering Academic Support and Organisation and Management the college recorded its highest ever satisfaction rates.

It also saw a significant increase in the Learning Resources category, which covers IT and library facilities.

Director of Learning Resources, Brian Boullier. said: “I believe this reflects a strategic investment in learning resources and strengthened relationships between Learning Resources staff and the students and the staff whose needs they support."

The NSS is sent out annually to final-year higher education students across the country. It measures the proportion of students taught at a university, college or alternative provider who were overall satisfied with the quality of their course. This year’s survey was completed by more than 300,000 final-year undergraduates.
