SIXTY Year 6 pupils from St Matthew’s CE Primary School, Bradford, were the first to have two Leavers’ events this year.

Pupils, staff and parents attended a Year 6 Leavers’ Service at St Matthew’s Church, Bankfoot, on Thursday and will also take part in the Year 6 Leavers’ Assembly on Tuesday, their last day at primary school.

The service was conducted by the Reverend Jimmy Hinton, Vicar at St Matthew’s, and a regular visitor to the school where he often takes assemblys and is known as Vicar Jimmy.

During the service, the children recited poems they had written about their journey through the school, from Nursery to Year 6. They had been involved in writing a song about their school memories, which they sang, accompanied by one of the class teachers David Brown

Headteacher Kay Remmer said: “It was a lovely service. The children really enjoyed it."

In recent years stronger links have been formed between the Vicar and Parishioners at St Matthew’s Church and the school.
