PUPILS at Wibsey Primary School will be given a chance to question MP Judith Cummins about her role after they have made a visit to the Houses of Parliament.

Members of the School Council are hoping to question the Bradford South MP while they were visiting Parliament on Thursday.

Parliament breaks up for the summer the day before their visit, so the MP has offered to meet with pupils on another day at the school.

Mrs Cummins said: “Parliament is a wonderful place to visit and learn, not only about its place and role in our democracy, but also in the history of our country.

“I always look forward to welcoming visitors from Bradford South and I’m looking forward to meeting with the School Council from Wibsey Primary and answering their questions about Parliament and my role as their local MP.”

Headteacher Nigel Cooper, teacher Melanie Broadbent and the 20 members of the School Council and other children will have a busy schedule while they are in London.

They will explore the Palace of Westminster to find out how UK democracy has been shaped. Pupils will be set a secret mission to answer questions about how it all began, how issues in Parliament are debated and how the public can get their voices’ heard through a ‘Crown and Parliament’ tour.
