AUSTRALIAN teachers will visit Wibsey Primary School on Monday after it gained and award for its learning programme.

The Gold Award was given to the school by Building Learning Power, which described it as an "intelligent and inspirational school.”

The Australian teachers will fly thousands of miles to see how the learning programme has led to big changes that have improved behaviour, confidence and exam results at the school over the last few years.

The visit is being planned by TLO, the organisation behind the Building Learning Power programme.

The four teachers from the Norwest Christian College will visit Wibsey Primary and Miriam Lord Primary, which has previously been given a gold award, to see for themselves what a difference the Building Learning Power scheme makes.

Head Nigel Cooper said: “Building Learning Power has enabled the whole school to change dramatically. Whereas, previously, our pupils were more “spoon fed” they have now become learners who can think and learn for themselves, and reflect on their own learning.

“The staff have also benefited from BLP. For example, they work more collaboratively within the classroom and with each other. Parents have also been involved in gaining an understanding of BLP and this has helped them support their children with their school work.”
