PUPILS at Titus Salt School in Baildon are well into a month long fundraising reading marathon.

The event started on April 24 and runs until May 26, and will see pupils reading as many books as possible to raise money for the Readathon charity, as well as helping to refurbish the school’s learning resource centre.

The charity encourages children to read for pleasure, and provides new books and storyteller visits to children’s hospitals across the UK.

Assistant Year 7 Leader, Juliet Scott said: “Readathon creates a real buzz about books in the school. I have found children talking about books, sharing and swapping favourites and genuinely motivated to read.

“Parents become involved in what their children are reading and share precious time together talking about books. Readathon really is a win-win.”
