STAFF from Bradford College will take part in a sponsored walk to raise money for the National Autistic Society.
A team from the college is set to take part in a night walk in Manchester on April 1.
The five-strong team, made up of Lisa Dryden, Estelle French, Jodie Morrow, Jenna Gill and Leanne Mackie, aim to raise at least £500 for the charity by completing the 5km route through the city centre.
The fundraiser is a key event in World Autism Awareness Week, which begins on March 27, and Lisa Dryden, who was appointed learning support tutor for autistic spectrum conditions at the college last November, was keen to get involved.
She said: “I wanted to do something as part of my new role. I intend to raise awareness in college, among staff and students, of autism.
“The walk won’t be easy but it is about raising awareness rather than being arduous.
“We will be holding a number of events in college during World Autism Awareness Week including talks, a film screening and fundraising stalls.
“The work of the charity is very important, supporting people with autism and their families and we are proud to be joining this national fundraiser.”
