Greengates Primary School has been awarded a prestigious platinum award by the Woodland Trust for getting involved in green activities.

Activities in the Forest School area included looking at the woodland from different perspectives, sharing woodland words and images and looking at woodland wild trails.

The Green Tree Schools initiative, which has seen over 7,000 schools sign up since 2008, rewards schools for participating in green activities, both in and out of the classroom.

To achieve the award, pupils from Greengates Primary have created a woodland nature trail, photographed their Forest School area, created pieces of art and joined in various other Woodland Trust activities.

Only a handful of schools manage to progress to the platinum award (pictured with Year 5 pupil Casey Gill and Year 1 pupil Darcie Entwistle).
