DRAMA groups from two Bradford schools will be performing during this year’s World Book Day.

Freedom Studios runs after-school drama groups at Carlton Bolling College and Grange Technology College, and they have devised site-specific performances that will be performed to groups of fellow pupils in their school libraries.

The Grange piece will take audiences on a journey through The Great Gatsby, Romeo and Juliet and To Kill A Mockingbird, including a flapper-inspired dance routine choreographed with support from Bradford Council’s Dance For Life team.

Carlton Bolling will also be performing in their school library, and are also taking their work on a mini-tour of Bradford libraries on Saturday. They’ll be performing their Roald Dahl-inspired rhymes and rhythms to parent and child groups, supported by Workshop Facilitators Natalie Davies and Anna Parker.

Freedom Studios’ work with youth and community groups is coordinated by Maria Spadafora, who said: “I always love seeing what the young people come up with. Some of them have been doing our drama workshops for two years now, and we’ve seen them make enormous progress in terms of their creative skills, ideas and confidence.”

Carlton Bolling will be performing in City Library at 11am and Eccleshill library 2pm on Saturday.
